Berbere Spice originated in Ethiopia and has an unusually smooth taste and is revered as a very flavorful spice for many dishes. American kitchens use it primarily as a dry spice for the ease in adding as much or as little in recipes or on the table as desired. In Ethiopia however it is made into a paste and used for meats, rice, and vegetables. Also makes a wonderful starter for chili and pulled pork recipes and would be just as delicious on BBQ or baked ribs.
